Discover the Oberbergische Land!
The Oberbergische Land has already been discovered
by many guests for holidays and recreation purposes. They come
back again and again and have become real friends of this region.
If you are interested in exploring new areas by travelling, biking,
and walking and want to experience something special, we would
like to invite you to receive detailed information from this Internet
page.
The Oberbergische Kreis (Oberberg district) and
its 13
towns and municipalities are pleased to offer you
some advise with regard to short holidays, to a stay over an extended
weekend or a stress-free holiday with recreation activities and
holidays full of adventure and to support you in actively organising
your visit to the Oberbergische Land.
The Oberbergische Land comprises approximately
920 km² and is situated in the Naturpark
Bergisches Land. This cultivated landscape has a
very special charm and is the domicile of almost 280 000 inhabitants
who, in their majority, earn their living in the area, too.
The hills, and the brooks streaming down the
valleys are characteristic elements of our Oberbergische Land.
However, the denomination „Oberbergisch” (literally “with
high hills”) does not derive from the natural shape of our
hilly landscape but refers to the former rulers of the land, i.e.
the Counts von Berg.
The Oberbergische Land is a low mountain
range area with elevations of about 500 metres. You
will be enchanted by the diversity and variety of this landscape
offering so much for its younger and older visitors.
“Healthy air” is not just a catchword
for us: the health resorts „Reichshof-Eckenhagen“ and „Nümbrecht“ with
their curative climate are representative for the whole Oberbergische
Land. |
