A patchwork of hills, meadows, fields
and pine, and deciduous woods speckled with storage dams,
lots of smaller and bigger villages, and farmsteads are characteristic
for the mayor part of the Oberbergische Land.
That is the
plain reason why the whole of the Oberbergische Land forms
a part of the Naturpark Bergisches Land.
It is mainly the
great variety of the landscape that continuously provides
new and unique impressions to amateur walkers as well
as to those strolling occasionally. On the other hand, it
is the harmony within the variety of the landscape that
allows
to relax perfectly in it. The big number of vantage points
and look-out towers make sure the walkers do not lose their “general
view” over the walking trail system having
a length of about 1.500 km. These places do not only grant a far-reaching
outlook across the Oberbergische Land – when looking
in direction of the lowlands of the river Rhine one can also
make out the towers of the Cologne Cathedral, and the Siebengebirge. Walking
trails leading around storage dams are perfect for strolling
but can also be the starting point for longer walks heading
to the most remote places in the stillness of the deep
forests.
There
is quite a number of car parking sites established for
walkers where you can find information on how to discover
the Oberbergische
Land by foot or by bike on shorter or longer routes .At any
time of the year – and of the day – the Oberbergische
Land offers adventures in and with nature for people of all
ages. Wakeful and attentive eyes, and the
readiness to give oneself over to the harmony of a beautifully
balanced landscape will help you to forget your everyday
routine and to prepare yourself to face the working time
ahead at home in a contented and relaxed way. |
